Do Androids Dream...

Yesterday I finished reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. It was excellent. I was struck by many things - the author's choice to not explain every sci-fi element of the world (the history of Mercerism, it's tenants, the exact workings of the empathy box, the role of animals in the book as a status symbol / the relationship between humans and animals and humans and androids, etc).

This was the first sci-fi book that I've been struct by as particularly excellent and meaningful in a while. It was sharp. Sharp like a small rock hurtling toward you as you, the human (all the humans) trundle up a hill in a torrid landscape of greyness and dust.
